Libraries as Spaces for Open Science / Bibliotecas como espacios para la ciencia abierta

Public participation in scientific research is more possible today than ever before due to technological innovation and investment in non-profit organizations that support the citizen science movement. Libraries are the ideal place to bring communities of practice together to use these tools and engage in scientific discovery. In this talk, Nico Carver will address some of the open infrastructure the team at the Wolbach Library is building to help library communities engage in real space science.

Nico Carver is the Librarian for Collaborative Programs at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian. Carver received his BA from Hampshire College and his master's in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He plans events and training for the scientists and staff working at the Center for Astrophysics, and helps coordinate and support a number of public initiatives taken on by the Library including Project PHaEDRA, and the Library Space Technology Network (LSTN).

Nico Carver es bibliotecario de programas colaborativos en el Centro de Astrofísica | Harvard y Smithsonian. Carver recibió su licenciatura en Hampshire College y su maestría en Bibliotecología de la Universidad de Carolina del Norte en Chapel Hill.
